We’re family now!
Howdy, guys!
The dust is settling, and boy did we ever kick it up as we dove head-first into our debut season!
We thank you for taking the plunge with us, and we anticipate a phenomenal year.
We’ve already fallen in love with our students… parents too!
So, yeah, we’re basically one big TDC family now. What comes with the “family” territory? –
Talks. Family talks. In-house discussion. Call it whatever you like, but don’t worry, it’s ALL GOOD STUFF.
First on the list: RECITAL!
YES! We are scheduled to show off all our awesomeness at the culmination of our 2017-2018 Season.
Recital date is May 12, 2018. Write that in red ink on your planner because it’s a big deal!
The recital will take place at the Pleasanton Performing Arts Center.
More details to come on the specifics of the day.
~ Another thing about Recital, though…
The trend is that parents are required to pay a recital fee. This helps offset the costs of the show, and the amount varies depending on the studio. WE DON’T LIKE THAT! Do you? We
know that you already pay tuition, and you’ll have costumes to budget, so we want to raise funds to pay for Recital, so YOU don’t have to. (Can I get an AMEN!) We have some brainstorms, but we welcome your ideas. Bake sales? Sure! Plate sales? Why not? What else are you thinking? We will create a giant Recital jar to use to accept donations throughout the year as well, so when Grandma picks up the kids from dance, remind her to drop $5 bill in there!
If you have any other ideas to help feed our Recital Fund, don’t hoard them!
Second on the list: ATTIRE.
We are super cool instructors/owners. We don’t want to make you feel pressure that dance schools can sometimes evoke, but we do have some basic attire guidelines. These are for the safety of our littles and also for the purpose of promoting unity and professionalism among our students in this discipline that is the performing arts.
Below you will find a list of class attire for each program. Just do your best to adhere.
(Also, pretty please, have students change their shoes in the lobby or lounge if they are wearing dirty or sandy school shoes. Sand and marley vinyl flooring aren’t friends, and we want our students’ floors to last.)
I’ll leave you with the Practice Attire list, and we’ll catch up again soon. Good talk!

Here’s an example of a good Acro leotard.
(We like the built in shorts for the comfort of our students.)
We do have a small selection of dance leotards in the studio. If you can’t find the size you
need, or if you’re looking for something more suitable for the fall weather, try something like this one.
At the studio, we have a handful of footless dance tights (girls) available for $8.
If you need a size we don’t currently have, try these.
I’m using a black canvas jazz shoe lately, and I love the arch support if gives my flat feet.
These are good for boys and girls in Modern Jazz/Hip Hop, Jazz/Pop, or Contemporary.
